Guido Pedretti, Managing Editor of Entertainment
Guido Pedretti has always loved to tell stories and write. When he was in Switzerland, he used to tell stories all the time to his parents, without them ever asking for it. They must have been patient parents indeed. Later, Guido refined his writing skills at his former school, where he wrote, among other things, short stories, plays, and fiction about Julius Caesar… in the form of a diary! He entered the Journalism Club in his very first year at Laurel Springs, and his first article was a piece about the year’s Academy Awards. Since then, Guido has written articles in several formats (features, news, and opinion pieces) on a variety of subjects, spanning science and technology, research into folklore, current events, travel articles, memoirs, and analysis of recent trends in science fiction. This year, he also became the Managing Editor of Entertainment. Guido further employs his writing skills in a multimedia context through his “Meethology” project: a series of YouTube videos in which he probes how archetypes commonly found in mythologies and religions the world over (creation myths, the cosmic order, liminal places, monsters, and the hero’s journey) recur in important movies and how they contribute to these movies’ appeal. The companion site to this channel contains a treasure trove of insights into mythology, folklore, and religion supported by research.
